Job Summary:
Northwestern State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Business Systems Analyst in the Enterprise Applications Group of Information Technology Services. The role involves developing, integrating, testing, and implementing services in support of Ellucian's ERP software Suite, along with analyzing user needs and creating solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Develop software programs and reports using ARGOS, SQL, and Power BI to support the functional areas of the university in data analysis and business processes.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the standards, theories and practices associated with the Banner ERP Suite and SQL reporting.
• Write SQL queries to independently identify issues with software or standard operation procedures. Identify solutions and make suggestions for technical modifications to prevent future problems. Develop new applications to address issues when needed.
• Develop a detailed understanding of university business processes and the flow of data across and through functional areas which may include but not be limited to: Student Services Business Affairs Admissions and Recruiting Human Resources and Payroll Financial Aid Interfaces to external services
• Work with employees across assigned areas to understand functional requirements and to design and implement software systems to address those needs.
• Test Ellucian software updates and patches. Test new functionality in Banner and CRM releases. Serve as a functional user liaison during review of software applications.
• Act as a resource for the technical ITS staff to ensure appropriate integration and verify the accuracy of information. Work closely with functional areas during testing for successful integration.
• Provide training on new software to functional areas across campus who may need assistance.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or graduation expected within 6 months.
• Experience writing SQL queries to extract, manipulate, analyze data, and create reports.
• Ability to work and learn independently, good initiative, self-motivation, communication and organizational skills
• Adaptability to thrive in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities, while maintaining responsiveness to end-user needs.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams, including staff, technical personnel, leadership, and functional end-users.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly present ideas, updates, and solutions to stakeholders.
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related discipline.
• Experience with Evisions Argos and Form Fusion, Power BI, and Oracle SQL.
• Exposure to or experience supporting HR or ERP systems (through internships, academic projects or prior employment)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Experience working in a university environment
