 EST4 Fire Alarm Technician


�� Role Overview

An organization is seeking an experienced EST4 Fire Alarm Technician to support installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of Edwards EST3/EST4 fire alarm and life safety systems. The role requires strong field experience, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently while supporting junior technicians.

��️ Core Responsibilities


�� Installation & Programming

· Install, program, and commission Edwards EST3/EST4 fire alarm systems 
· Configure system devices, panels, annunciators, and network components using manufacturer software 
· Install fire alarm devices, conduit, cabling, and related infrastructure per NEC, NFPA, and local codes 

�� Testing & Troubleshooting

· Perform system startups, acceptance testing, inspections, and demonstrations 
· Troubleshoot system faults, communication issues, device failures, and network problems 
· Ensure systems meet operational, safety, and code compliance standards 

�� Technical Interpretation & Execution

· Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, submittals, and technical specifications 
· Understand sequences of operations and manufacturer documentation 

�� Coordination & Communication

· Work with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors (AHJs), and customers 
· Provide service documentation, test reports, deficiency reports, and system updates 

�� Maintenance & Support

· Maintain company vehicle, tools, test equipment, and inventory 
· Support inspections, preventive maintenance, and service repairs 
· Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements 

�� Training & Development

· Mentor and support junior technicians and apprentices 
· Participate in manufacturer training and ongoing technical education 

⏱️ Work Conditions

· May require after-hours, weekend, and travel assignments 

�� Required Qualifications


�� Education & Experience

· High school diploma or GED required 
· Minimum 5 years of fire alarm installation/service experience 

�� Technical Skills

· Strong knowledge of Edwards EST3 / EST4 systems 
· Experience in system programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting 
· Ability to read construction drawings and technical documents 

�� Certifications & Compliance

· NICET Level II or higher preferred 
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required 
· Valid driver’s license with clean record 
· Ability to pass background check and drug screening 
· CPR/First Aid and confined space training preferred 

�� Knowledge Base

· Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, and fire alarm codes 
· Experience with electrical and low-voltage systems 

�� Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift up to 75 lbs 
· Work on ladders, lifts, confined spaces, and elevated areas 
· Ability to stand, kneel, crawl, and work in varied construction environments 
· Must use PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.)
