Job description

Job Summary:
The Entry level Maintenance Apprentice primary responsibility is assisting in the repair of equipment and ensuring Planned Maintenance (PM) procedures are completed. The technician will also support the documentation of PM procedures.
Summary of Essential Functions:
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain CNC/Router equipment and controls
  • Troubleshoot electronics, software, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Replace, repair and/or calibrate mechanical systems as needed
  • Work alongside other technicians for repairs to ensure safety and quality
  • Use machine tool manuals technical documents and vendor resources to research and diagnose mechanical/electrical problems
  • Complete testing and benchmarks for machines
  • Complete and document PM on CNC/Router machines
  • Acting as the initial escalation point for related work items
  • Train, mentor and coach new and current employees
  • Delivering excellent communications across the organization, both written and verbal form
  • Maintaining poise, professionalism and working independently without supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
  • Knowledge of mechanics and the mechanical fit of components, assemblies and sub-assemblies preferred
  • Experience with the following; instillation and precision alignment of machine tool mechanisms, perform mechanical scraping of machine tool ways, bearings and mating surfaces to support ball screw replacement, gearbox rebuilds, linear guide replacement, spindle rebuild/replacement preferred
  • 1+ years' experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing at least two of the following; electronic, electrical or mechanical systems preferred
  • Associate degree in related field preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Require a close attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment between several different departments
  • Ability to interact with employees of all levels and backgrounds
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, mechanical drawings, schematics and diagrams
  • Lifting of up to 50 lbs. and manipulating bulky sub-assemblies and parts / tooling
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Must have good manual dexterity, the ability to use various hand tools and gages, ability to climb and work at elevated heights, exert considerable physical effort, bend, lift, stoop, climb
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
