Job description

The primary function of the Intern position is to prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the business world by providing hands-on experience in full-stack software development within a financial organization. This experience will include exposure and adherence to IT policies and practical application of both front-end and back-end development technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with various full-stack development projects and tasks to gain understanding of how technology is implemented and used within the organization.

  • Assist in a wide variety of team projects, participate in team meetings, and gain experience working in a professional corporate environment.

  • Gain hands-on practical experience in both front-end and back-end development roles and responsibilities, providing support to deliver appropriate solutions.

  • Learn and develop essential full-stack development skills around troubleshooting and proper communication to provide daily issue resolution as reported by end users.

  • Assist in team projects and assigned tasks including critical daily process validations, audit reviews, and researching system issues.

  • Participate in testing system updates and bug fixes. Identify defects/bugs, document testing results, and communicate findings to manager.

  • Perform special projects as determined by the information technology staff.

  • Gain and refine interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with co-workers, department heads, and various levels of management.

  • Develop and refine planning, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Gain hands-on experience working in a team-based environment.

  • Participate in weekly meetings with the IT team to discuss projects and issues to be resolved.

  • Gain experience working under general supervision.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Attending accredited college or university working towards an IT degree with a focus on software development or a related field.

  • Energetic, organized, and passionate about technology with the desire to build a career in full-stack software development.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team-based environment.

  • Ability to dedicate 15-20 hours per week to this intern program.

  • Ability to always maintain the confidentiality of the Credit Union and member records.

  • Quick learner, motivated individual with natural analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, typing, counting cash, etc.).

  • Sit for extended periods of time.

  • Lift 20-40 pounds of applicable supplies including but not limited to copy paper, cash drawers, marketing material, etc.

  • Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers.

  • Reach keyboards.

  • Ability to operate basic office machines (calculator, computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).
