The Flight Test Planner requires a self-starter who is able to work independently with minimal supervision.

As a member of the Flight Test Support group, your positive and proactive approach will contribute to the overall success of the team. The Flight Test Engineers (FTE), Ground Test Engineers (GTE), and Pilot groups depend on your ability to balance operational demands with capacity constraints, while providing timely scheduling decisions that allows the team as a whole to operate safely and efficiently.

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your chanllenges:

  • Acts as the Flight Test team representative in scheduling meetings with MAP, Flightline, and Quality teams to include Delivery Center planning meetings.

  • Manages schedule through TimeBox (Flight Test scheduling system) to maximize Flight Test support for A320 and A220 Flight Test activities.

  • Ensures the information flow between SA Aircraft technical group and Production flight test team in Mobile.

  • Resource planning and crew scheduling to include all stakeholders to efficiently provide support for A220 and A320 program's flight activities requests.

  • Coordinate communication between Production/Quality team/Engineering and Flight Test in regards to all support requests (to include airport operations and Airbus ground personnel).

  • Tracking of crew qualifications and mission organization support requirements.

  • Ensure equipment and flight test equipment is secured in a timely manner, using Click n Buy in coordination with Airbus SAS - Flight Test.

  • Organize and oversee Flight Test department team meetings.

  • Able to produce clear and concise technical and KPI reports to brief upper management on challenges and opportunities to improve.

  • Compiles Flight Crew equipment requirements and orders through approved vendors.

  • Ensure technical information about new features or standards is distributed appropriately within the Flight Test team.

  • On top of these activities, several side tasks are to be performed to allow the group to operate appropriately such as participating in software updates, shaping the future of activity by a continuous improvement of way of working.

Your boarding pass:

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aeronautics or engineering preferred.

  • 3 to 5 years of aviation industry experience.

  • Previous experience in a Flight Crew Scheduling Department.

  • Demonstration of soft skills as communication, situational awareness, workload management.

  • Ability to work under pressure, with short deadlines and a changing environment.

  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Well-organized, self-directed, and an engaged, collaborative team player.

  • Customer focused with a strong business orientation.

  • FAA aircraft dispatcher certification - preferred

  • FCC Radio license (or) ground control experience - preferred

  • FAA pilot certifications or international equivalent - preferred

  • Fluent written and spoken English.

  • Written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, as well as effective result-oriented problem solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Office productivity tools.

  • Google Workspace preferred.

  • Previous experience conducting communication tests with aircraft preferred.

  • TSA waiver submission and modification coordination preferred.

  • Previous NavBlue or similar flight planning software experience preferred.

Travel Required:

  • 10-20% Domestic & International travel for training and certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite 100%

  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: Daily able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

  • Carrying: Several times a week able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Lifting: Several times a week able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: Several times a week able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: Several times a month able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.

  • Travel: Rarely able to travel independently and at short notice.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor and flightline.
