Job Description:

The Software Integration & Test Engineer is responsible for supporting the integration, test, verification, and operational readiness of software for an on-premises mission management ground system. This role works across software, networking, infrastructure, and system interfaces to ensure mission management applications and supporting services are properly integrated, tested, and validated within a complex ground environment.

The engineer will support software deployment, environment configuration, interface testing, defect investigation, and system verification activities across development, integration, and operational environments. This position requires experience working with on-premises ground systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to coordinate with software developers, systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity, and operations personnel to resolve issues and ensure reliable system performance.

The preferred candidate is proficient with the Red Hat Linux operating system and associated scripting languages. Prior experience with OS/COMET and TT&C system is desired.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, develop, and implement automated functional, integration, performance, and regression tests to validate software and system functionality for both On-Premises environments.
  • Support and maintain Factory test system to support development and test activities for Mission Management element, including simulators and associated hardware equipment configurations.
  • Design, develop, and implement automated functional, integration, performance, and regression tests to validate software and system functionality for both On-Premises environments.
  • Coordinate hardware and software integration in operational data center environments, including kitting, deployment, troubleshooting, and remote support.
  • Work with servers, workstations, ethernet networks, NAS/SAN storage, network devices, and Linux & Windows operating systems
  • Author and review Work Orders for Testing (WOFTs) and collaborate with internal and external teams for hardware and software deployments.
  • Must be able to obtain a NOAA Public Trust.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience in software integration, software test, system integration, or verification and validation.
  • Experience working with on-premises mission management ground systems or similar operational ground environments.
  • Experience supporting software deployment, configuration, and testing in integrated environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting software and interface issues in networked systems.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows server environments.
  • Familiarity with test documentation, discrepancy tracking, and configuration-controlled environments.#
  • Prior experience with OS/COMET and TT&C system is desired
