The Company 

Intellijoint Surgical develops effective, easy-to-use technology that helps to improve surgeons’ care and patients’ lives. Our products are used in the operating room to improve implant positioning during hip and knee replacement surgeries. Our technology has been used in over 80,000 surgeries, giving us valuable real-world feedback from surgeons and patients to continue improving what we build. We are looking for a Software Test Specialist to join our R&D team and help bring innovative medical technologies to the market. 

The Position 

As part of the R&D team, the Software Test Specialist will support software and system verification and validation activities across multiple product teams. This role is hands-on and highly collaborative, with a focus on executing testing activities throughout development sprints to ensure new features, integrations, and defect fixes meet quality, performance, usability, and regulatory requirements before release. 

You will work closely with software, hardware, systems, and product teams in a small, cross-functional environment where your work directly contributes to technologies designed to improve surgical outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who: 

  • Enjoys hands-on software and system testing in a highly collaborative product development environment. 

  • Is comfortable working across both Agile sprint testing and formal verification and validation activities. 

  • Brings strong attention to detail and takes pride in creating clear, traceable, audit-ready documentation. 

  • Is motivated by work that directly contributes to innovative medical technology and improved patient outcomes. 

What You Will Do: 

Agile Development and Software Testing 

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives 

  • Perform day-to-day software testing activities throughout the sprint, including functional, integration, regression, exploratory and usability testing 

  • Identify, reproduce, document and track defects through resolution 

  • Review and update test cases to ensure alignment with evolving requirements and product designs. 

  • Contribute to test planning and risk assessments to ensure appropriate test coverage within sprint timelines 

System Verification and Validation 

  • Develop, execute and maintain verification and validation test plans, protocols and reports 

  • Verify that product requirements are complete, testable and traceable throughout the product development lifecycle 

  • Design and execute test cases covering functional, integration, usability, performance, reliability and regression testing 

  • Participate in requirement reviews, risk analyses, and design reviews  

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and application of development and testing processes, tools and best practices 

Cross Functional Product Support 

  • Support concurrent product development projects and releases 

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, systems and product teams to define verification strategies and acceptance criteria 

  • Assist development teams with root cause investigations, troubleshooting and defect resolution 

  • Balance hands-on sprint testing with longer-term verification and validation activities 

Medical Device Compliance and Documentation 

  • Generate and maintain design history file documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements 

  • Ensure testing activities comply with applicable medical device regulations, standards, and internal procedures. 

  • Support design control activities, including requirements traceability, design verification and validation, risk management, change control 

Skills and Experience to Enable Success: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 

  • 2+ years of professional testing experience with products involving both software and hardware 

  • Experience testing with both Linux and macOS environments. 

  • Experience testing web-based and cloud-connected applications. 

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and product development processes  

  • Familiarity with prototyping, 3D printing, and CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, Creo, etc.) 

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, interoperability and connectivity testing 

  • Experience with medical devices and/or knowledge of standards such as ISO 14971, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, is considered a strong asset. 

  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
