Job description

Job Summary
The UnionWare Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level solutions that support both client and internal business needs.
This role operates within a task-based delivery model and requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software within defined timelines.

Success in this role is defined by reliability of delivery, quality of work, accuracy of estimates, and contribution to overall team effectiveness. Developers are expected to exercise sound judgment, take ownership of outcomes, and contribute to a disciplined and accountable engineering environment.
Role Context
Developers operate within different delivery contexts (Product, Professional Services, and Client Experience). While core expectations remain consistent, priorities may vary.

Requirements

Development, Estimation & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and maintain application functionality across full-stack technologies
  • Write and test SQL code, including stored procedures, triggers, functions, and complex queries
  • Enhance and maintain enterprise software written in VB.NET
  • Develop and support web-based applications using ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and related technologies
  • Configure software through database entries and custom scripts
  • Provide accurate effort estimates and commit to delivery timelines during sprint planning
  • Own assigned work end-to-end, from requirements clarification through to deployment readiness
  • Deliver work within committed timelines and proactively communicate risks, delays, and trade-offs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects, including identifying root causes and implementing preventative fixes
  • Contribute to reducing technical debt through refactoring and improved design

Embedded Quality & Standards

  • Perform testing as part of development, including unit testing, integration testing, and validation of requirements
  • Ensure delivered work meets acceptance criteria and is production-ready
  • Take full accountability for the quality of delivered code, including post-release defects
  • Follow established coding standards, security practices, and development guidelines
  • Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve quality and consistency
  • Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge bases
  • Ensure work aligns with defined "Definition of Done" criteria prior to completion.

  • Documentation is updated where applicable
  • Solution is ready for deployment

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Solutions Architects, Business Analysts, Account Managers, DevOps, and other team members
