Job description

Job Purpose

The IT Tech II will have the skills to maintain all Ski Cooper computer systems and networks with a focus on functionality and reliability. He/She trains users of the systems to make appropriate and safe usage of the IT infrastructure. A successful IT Tech II must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks, and operating systems. The IT Tech II will have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install and configure appropriate hardware and software according to company needs
  • Check computer hardware and peripherals to ensure functionality, and repair as required
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance and functionality
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and information systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve/repair problems
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes, and develop maintenance schedule
  • Perform server configuration and maintenance as required
  • Maintain, monitor, and support offsite web VPS
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and submit requisition requests as needed
  • Develop outside-the-box solutions to the unique industry-specific needs of a ski resort
  • Be on-site for 2-3 days per week during the season.
  • Any other tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18+ with current and valid Driver's License
  • College degree in Information Technology/Systems, or equivalent combination of IT knowledge and experience
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server; Windows 11; Active Directory; Group Policy; cPanel/WHM; MS SQL; Docker; Microsoft Office; TCP/IP networking; point of sale systems; point-to-point invisible wireless links (5ghz, 2.4ghz, and 900mhz); and flexibility to quickly learn new software, protocols, and databases
  • Thorough understanding of internet security, network security, and data privacy principles
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Licensing
  • Relevant certifications provide substantial advantage (A+, Security+, Network+, MCP, Cisco, etc.)
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must be able to navigate ski terrain of moderate difficulty

Working conditions

The IT Tech II position is primarily indoors in the various base area facilities, but will also be outside exposed to temperature extremes (above 85 degrees and below 20 degrees), sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) and high altitudes (10,500+ feet).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift objects that may be heavy, and be comfortable around and operating heavy equipment

Seasonal Status

This is a winter seasonal position with an expected season of early December 2026 through Late March to mid April 2027. Employment in subsequent seasons is not guaranteed. Be sure to speak with your supervisor if you desire to return the next season.
