The Role
AspenTech, a global leader in software solutions for optimizing process manufacturing across various industries including oil and gas, petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, is seeking a talented Software Developer to join our Advanced Process Control and Dynamic Optimization R&D Group in Houston.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting and enhancing our industry leading advanced control (DMC3) and dynamic optimization (GDOT) products, utilizing cutting edge software tools, AI, and advanced modeling and optimization technologies.
This unique opportunity allows an exceptional software developer to contribute to a rapidly expanding product that serves as a fundamental pillar for industry digitalization.
Your Impact
  • Primarily focus on designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting DMC3/GDOT products.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into product features and use cases.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to enhance our products, ensuring they provide better value for our customers with a focus on simplicity in deployment and maintenance.
  • Secure application design to ensure products adhere to modern software security and access-control standards.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding, troubleshooting, refactoring, and generating unit tests to improve efficiency and code quality.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify synergies among AspenTech's extensive range of products.
  • Work collaboratively with the extended team in Product Management, Customer Support, and Quality Assurance to ensure a successful product release and seamless customer adoption.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields with 10+ years of working experience.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable web applications across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft web application technologies, including ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET MVC/Web API, ASP.NET Web Forms, and Classic ASP.
  • Strong experience with C# (.NET).
  • Knowledge of software security principles, including authentication, authorization, and access-control models.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and managing data using SQL is a plus.
  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks.
  • Experience with third-party UI controls or frameworks such Angular, React, or DevExpress is a plus.
  • Experience with Javascipt, Typescript, C++ is a plus.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, troubleshooting, refactoring, and generating unit tests.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in software project management is a plus.
