Software QA Test Engineer Full-time, remote role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Software QA Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, accuracy, and performance of our software products, including AI-enabled features and workflows. This role will design and execute manual and automated tests, evaluate AI-generated outputs, identify defects and unexpected behavior, and collaborate with developers and product teams to resolve issues before release. The QA Test Engineer will play a critical role in helping GruntWorx deliver accurate, reliable, and user-friendly tax automation solutions.

Remote role; however, candidates must reside in one of the following states: Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, Utah or Virginia. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, document, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts
  • Perform manual and automated testing
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using bug-tracking tools
  • Work closely with developers and product managers to understand requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Manage the QA process from end to end using project management tool, like Open Project
  • AI tools to develop automated tests
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define acceptance criteria and quality standards for AI features.
  • Support responsible AI practices by testing for unintended, misleading, or unreliable outputs
  • Use AI-assisted testing tools, where appropriate, to improve test creation, defect analysis, and QA efficiency.
  • Conduct regression, functional, usability, and performance testing
  • Verify bug fixes and ensure issues are resolved before release
  • Participate in sprint planning
  • Provide feedback on product usability and overall quality
  • Maintain detailed testing documentation and reports
Required Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA processes
  • Experience with bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla)
  • Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr)
  • Experience validating data accuracy, quality, and consistency across software workflows with AI tools
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and databases for data validation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
  • Experience testing APIs using tools such as Postman or REST clients
  • Experience with tax, accounting, financial, or document-processing software
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
  • Knowledge of project management tools like Open Project
