Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Quality Assurance Analyst 2 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for working with software development and aeronautical database teams to ensure compliance to regulatory and internal standards through device testing and support activities, the release of database updates, conducting software quality assurance activities, and preparing certification documentation.
Essential Functions
  • Support high-level software product and/or database process testing as needed
  • Participate in the maintenance of software and/or database standards, templates, and forms
  • Draft RTCA DO-200 certification documents and can apply deviations to the standards and process when applicable
  • Review software and/or database documents for accuracy and compliance, including the review of system level software parts such as loader cards
  • Analyze aeronautical data for completeness and accuracy
  • Review and find issues with RTCA DO-200 deliverables
  • Collaborate and add value to aviation database and/or software processes and certification
  • Draft internal documentation to facilitate inter-team collaboration and efficiency
  • Leverage process expertise with product development teams to provide reliable, repeatable and efficient SW and data releases
  • Provide solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Work cooperatively with Engineering teams to negotiate resolutions for issues found in SQA functions
  • Support OEM and certification authority audits
  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced Software and/or Database Analysts
  • Collaborate effectively with product teams to accomplish goals with Garmin's best interest in mind
  • Understand and comply with Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or another related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Excellent academics (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  • Must possess experience in technical writing, software quality, or other SW development supporting role
  • Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of tools designed for engineering document management
  • Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of established software standards and procedures
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to maintain and deliver a high level of quality and accuracy
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Demonstrates ability to complete well defined basic tasks and/or projects
  • Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing timely solutions
  • Consistent demonstration of quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with RTCA DO-200/DO-330 standards
  • Experience in software planning/development/verification
  • Experience with JIRA or other software issue and project tracking software
  • Experience with data query languages like SQL or JQL
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater)
  • Experience with aeronautical data
  • Pilot experience
