HDR is seeking a seller-doer Industrial Senior Project Manager with significant experience supporting Industrial sector clients and projects located in Michigan. The successful candidate will serve in a key leadership position as the initial piece of HDR's Michigan-based Industrial team. Primary responsibilities may vary slightly based on the candidate but will generally include establishing and strengthening relationships with Michigan-based Industrial clients, winning and successfully executing engineering/consulting/other projects for Industrial clients, and supporting the recruiting, supervising, mentoring, and sustainable growth of a Michigan-based team of Industrial-focused engineers and designers. Other responsibilities include serving as an active member of relevant local organizations, presenting at industry events, collaboratively developing proposals, leading project teams to successful completion of the work, monitoring and communicating the status of their projects with HDR operations leadership, and networking internal to HDR to identify and on-board the right multi-disciplinary local and remote team members to support your pursuits and projects. This role requires significant client interaction (from pre-positioning for the work through project completion) and strong verbal and written communication skills as needed for regular interaction with internal staff such as project team members, marketing staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships and significant experience winning and executing projects for Michigan-based industrial clients within the manufacturing, oil and gas, chemical, or food & beverage markets. Ideal project experience may include natural gas storage/compression/distribution/metering/regulation, chemical production-related projects, part/equipment manufacturing-related projects, water treatment / wastewater treatment, and similar. In this role we'll count on you to:
  • Plan, schedule, lead and manage all aspects of projects.
  • Lead to the team to successfully meet all contractual scope, schedule, and fee commitments as needed to earn repeat business from clients.
  • Ensure high quality services and deliverables are provided, per HDR's quality guidelines.
  • Establish and develop client relationships, and be involved with marketing, proposal development, contract development and adherence, engineering design and production meetings
  • Participate in review meetings with project owners and/or applicable regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with staff supervisors and section managers to get staff assigned to projects, provide feedback on staff development, and maintain alignment on the forecasted workload and schedule.
  • Work with operations leadership including Business Group Managers, Accounting Managers, and Area Manager for internal project updates and reviews
  • Engage with relevant industry organizations and present at meetings and conferences

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification
  • Significant experience providing engineering services in one of the following markets: oil and gas, manufacturing, chemical production, or food & beverage.
  • Basic understanding of Google Earth, ESRI ArcGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Bentley Microstation
  • 5+ years industrial project management experience
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
