Programs testable and maintainable software solutions within Cloud computing environments and applications -- Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), using Java/J2EE, Spring, and Spring Boot. Designs and develops database schema, PL/SQLs, stored procedures, and transactional SQL within Oracle databases. Creates and improves REST API and implements Microservices -- Relational Databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (JPA2 and Hibernate). Leverages DevOps concepts and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools -- GitHub and Jenkins. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Cloud-native REST APIs and event streaming applications, using Java, AWS, Spring framework, and Kafka.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing Cloud-native REST APIs and event streaming applications, using Java, AWS, Spring framework, and Kafka.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing, developing, and integrating Java Web services using Spring Boot and Spring Security according to service-oriented and microservices architecture; and authenticating applications using Open Authorization (oAuth) and Spring MVC frameworks.
  • DE designing, developing, and building Rest and SOAP microservice; enforcing application authentication, using JSON Web Tokens (JWT) validation; and reviewing requirements, investigating problem areas, and debugging and monitoring microservice applications, using Splunk and Datadog metrics.
  • DE implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Web services, using Jenkins and Concourse; supporting the full Web application development lifecycle -- analysis, design, development, test, and deployment -- using source version control (Git and Stash) and build tools (Maven, AWS Cloud Formation Template, and Jenkins), according to Agile methodologies.
  • DE designing, developing, and deploying high throughput, scalable data loader process, using AWS Batch service and event streaming applications (using Apache Kafka); and creating unit tests using PowerMockito and end-to-end functional test automation in a Jenkins pipeline.

Salary: $178,131.00 - $188,131.00/year.
