Job Title: Specialist, Systems/Software Quality Engineer

Job Schedule: 9/80 employees work 9 out of 14 days- totaling 80 hours worked- and have every other Friday off

 

Job Description:

The Systems and Software Quality Engineer function is a program focused role that is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Software Quality Assurance standards, methods, and procedures to ensure software products and services meet contractual, regulatory, and industry requirements. Verifies software and firmware process compliance through collaboration with engineering, operations, and program management across the full product lifecycle. Conducts internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9115. Analyzes quality data to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

      Support configuration management, verification, and validation activities as required to ensure software product quality.

      Develop, implement, and maintain software quality assurance (SQA) processes, procedures, and quality management system documentation.

      Verify compliance with approved software development plans, processes, standards, and configuration management requirements.

      Provide independent oversight of software development lifecycle activities, including requirements, design, coding, integration, verification, validation, release, and maintenance.

      Review software lifecycle artifacts for completeness, traceability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

      Collaborate with engineering, systems engineering, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and program management to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.

      Analyze quality metrics, audit results, and nonconformance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

      Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits by providing objective evidence of compliance.

      Conduct process, product, and quality management system audits; document findings and verify corrective actions.

      Participate in design reviews, milestone reviews, and readiness assessments to ensure quality objectives are achieved.

      Identify and escalate quality risks that may impact product performance, certification, schedule, or customer satisfaction.

      Maintain compliance with company policies, export control regulations, safety requirements, and ethical business practices

 

Qualifications:

      Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related quality experience.

      Working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid development models.

     Experience implementing or auditing software quality processes in accordance with aerospace, defense, or other regulated industry standards [AS9115].
