Repsol is seeking an engineering student to intern with the Development Planning Team during the summer of 2027.

Summary

The Development Planning Engineering Intern will support the Development Planning Team in evaluating future development opportunities and analyzing long-term business scenarios. This role provides exposure to reservoir, development, production, and commercial workflows that drive capital allocation and asset strategy decisions.

The intern will assist in the development and analysis of planning scenarios, production forecasts, economic evaluations, and portfolio optimization initiatives. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, the intern will gain insight into how technical, operational, and financial information is integrated to support business decisions and maximize asset value.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be assigned a project within an area of interest and will work under the supervision of a senior member of the Development Planning Team, collaborating as follows:

  • Support the Development Planning team in maintaining and updating long-term development planning scenarios.
  • Assist with production forecasting, capital planning, and economic evaluations for Eagle Ford and Marcellus development opportunities.
  • Support the collection, validation, and organization of technical assumptions used in development planning workflows.
  • Analyze production, drilling, completion, and economic data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Assist in developing presentations and materials used for budget planning, long-range planning, reserves reviews, and strategic business discussions.
  • Support the evaluation of key business performance metrics and asset-level performance indicators.
  • Work with Reservoir, Production, Operations, Commercial, and Development Engineering teams to understand how technical decisions impact business outcomes.
  • Assist with data management, quality control, and reporting activities for development planning and reservoir databases.
  • Gain exposure to forecasting and planning software platforms used to support capital allocation and development strategy decisions.
  • Participate in project reviews and technical discussions while developing recommendations and insights from data analysis.
  • Ability to effectively work within a multidisciplinary team and matrix organization.
  • Coordinate occasional field visits and asset exposure opportunities with your supervisor.

Requirements for Consideration

  • Fully authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
  • Successful completion of 2 years toward a Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Engineering. Petroleum Engineering preferred, but Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, and other engineering disciplines will also be considered.
  • Students with an expected graduation of 2028-2029 are encouraged to apply (juniors or sophomores). Graduate students are also encouraged to apply.
  • Must have a cumulative and major GPA of 3.3 or higher, to be confirmed with transcript (unofficial transcript is acceptable).
  • Must be available for a continuous 12-week period for the duration of the 2027 summer intern program, starting May 17 and ending August 6.
  • Preference for candidates with prior internship, research, or project experience involving data analytics, economics, forecasting, optimization, or energy-related industries.

Internship Details

  • Position will be based out of our office in The Woodlands, TX. Interns are expected onsite Monday-Friday, with the exception of 9/80's. The 9/80 schedule is optional per the manager's discretion, based on intern project scope and timeline.
  • Non-local candidates may be considered but must arrange their own travel and temporary accommodations. A summer stipend will be provided to help offset out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Students must be available for the full duration of the internship from May 17-August 6. Any personal time off must be approved by the supervisor as unpaid leave and should be noted with the recruiter as early as possible.
  • Interns will receive an hourly wage but are not eligible for benefits or paid time off. Interns will be compensated for observed company holidays.
