Programming and Hardware Integration Systems Engineer
The Opportunity:

Your ability to translate real-world needs into technical specifications makes you an integral part of delivering a customer focused engineering solution.
As an engineer on our team, you have the chance to support the design, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of specialized Navy software systems including the Advanced Operator Control Device and Media Duplicator and Storage Management software systems. You will work with both legacy and modern computing environments, developing and maintaining software that interfaces with specialized hardware, storage devices, networks, and operator control systems. Your strong skills in computer programming, troubleshooting, hardware upgrades, system integration, and operational verification will be vital. You'll implement new requirements and operationally verify new capabilities in Solaris and Redhat Linux environments.

You Have:
  • 4+ years of experience developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining software that interfaces hardware devices, storage systems, or specialized peripherals in C or C++ in Linux or UNIX environments
  • 4+ years of experience analyzing legacy or existing source code and implementing modifications without disrupting operational capabilities
  • 2+ years of experience performing hardware and software integration and system level testing
  • Knowledge of TCP, IP, UDP, and multicast networking
  • Knowledge of methods and processes to investigate software, hardware integration problems, develop solutions, and operationally verify corrective changes
  • Ability to execute hardware upgrades to replace aging commercial storage components ensuring hardware compatibility
  • Ability to develop and maintain user manuals, technical documents, and test procedures
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with Naval Computing Environments
  • Experience with Advanced Operator Control Device embedded and application software
  • Experience with Solaris Operating Environments
  • Experience with X Window System, such as X11 or X Windows, application development
  • Experience supporting embedded or real-time software systems
  • Experience with RAID, SCSI, magneto-optical, Digital Audio Tapes, CD, or DVD storage systems
  • Experience designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing Media Duplicator and Storage Management Software used to store, manage, retrieve, and restore data and files from legacy media
  • Experience developing software using TCP, IP, UDP, or UDP multicast
  • Experience providing Naval Fleet technical assistance and support
  • Ability to support migration and preservation of data from aging media and storage technologies

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
