Job description

Dental Assistant Instructor - Substitute
Location: Pima Medical Institute - Aurora Campus | On-Site
Position Type: Part-Time, Substitute/PRN (As Needed)
Compensation: $22.88-27.46 per hour
Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced and credentialed Dental Assistant to serve as a Substitute Instructor at our Aurora campus. If you are the person in your office everyone goes to for training and clinical advice, you already have the heart of an instructor. This is a flexible opportunity to share your expertise with the next generation of dental professionals - on a schedule that works around your life.
Schedule Options:
  • Morning and afternoon shifts as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons in dental subjects, appealing to various learning styles.
  • Train students in didactic and clinical four-handed/six-handed dentistry principles, ensuring they meet professional standards.
  • Evaluate student coursework within a 72-hour window and maintain office hours to advise and mentor students.
  • Supervise student externship experiences and maintain connections with local dental offices and clinics.
  • Arrange guest speakers and field trips to local clinics to help students build professional networks.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, advisory boards, and campus graduations.
  • Manage student files, attendance records, and early alerts accurately and on time.
  • Provide lab assistance and substitute coverage as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in Dental Assisting.
  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program OR minimum 3 years of job-related training and experience.
  • Current credential as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), or Licensed Dentist.
  • Working knowledge of Colorado state requirements governing dental assisting programs.
  • Proficiency in didactic and clinical four-handed/six-handed dentistry.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and dental software.
