Job description

JOB TITLE:ย  Recreation Attendant- Athletic Leagues

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:ย  Parks & Recreationย 

REPORTS TO:ย  Recreation Supervisor

AVAILABLE HOURS:

Monday-Thursday: 6-11:15pm

Saturday: 8am-6pm

Sunday: 12-10pm

SUMMARY: ย Responsible for monitoring youth and adult sports leagues, assisting with registrations and payments, setting up fields and courts, performing light custodial duties, and helping resolve participant concerns. Works a flexible schedule and completes other duties as assigned.ย ย 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:ย 

  • Monitors all activities of Carrollton Athletics including basketball, volleyball, softball, cornhole, flag football, etc.
  • Assists with the administering of youth and adult athletic leagues, ย including games and youth practices, while ensuring safe and efficient program operations.
  • Assists in set up and break down of fields/courts.
  • Provides public information about City of Carrollton leagues.
  • ย Leads in monitoring athletic fields throughout operated by the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Receives fees for league registration.
  • ย Assists with league roster management, communicating with team managers and free agents, facilitating roster completion, and ensuring teams meet roster requirements for league play.
  • ย Performs custodial duties, sweeping, mopping, picking-up trash indoors and outdoors, etc. as needed.ย 
  • Assists in resolving participant complaints by recording complaints and referring to appropriate source, settles disputes arising between participants.ย 
  • Work schedule set based on current needs of department with regards to location and time.
  • Attend meetings as required.ย 
  • Performs other functions as assigned.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • None

ย KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:ย 

  • Knowledge of basic PC skills and Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of RecTrac software and Team Sideline.
  • Skilled in public/employee relations and problem solving, ability to make sound decisions quickly and efficiently.
  • Skilled in operating standard office equipment such as computer, cash register, copy machine, fax machine, ID card system, sound system, etc.
  • Ability to enforce recreation policies and procedures.
  • Ability to set up, monitor, and break down equipment and facilities for a variety of athletic leagues and events, including, basketball, softball, cornhole, volleyball, flag football, pickleball, and other recreation programs.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, procedures of variety of athletic leagues with the ability to consistently interpret and enforce rules during league play.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.ย 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • 17 years of age.
  • Six months customer service experience.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Training within the first six months.

PREFERENCES:ย 

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

WORKING CONDITIONS:ย 

  • Work is typically performed in a standard office environment. Depending on area of assignment, may occasionally work outdoor in outdoor environments, with potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.ย 
  • Sits for extended periods of time while performing daily duties such as recording fees, reserving rooms, etc.; stands, bends, and walks while distributing supplies, equipment and checking rooms.ย 
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Lifts and moves equipment such as tables, chairs, bleachers, mats, nets, etc.ย 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:ย 

  • Must be able to work varied schedules days, evenings, and weekends.ย 
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.ย 
  • Must pass Criminal History Check.ย 
  • Must possess a valid Texas Class C Driver's License.ย 
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record Check.ย 
  • Must possess or obtain CPR/FIRST AID card and obtain AED Training within first six months.ย
