Job description

Position Summary

Objective of this position is to learn and become proficient in performing the responsibilities; of control training on Okuma lathe & mill, print interpretation with GD&T, part processing and programming, tool and work holding selection. Use of Auto Cad and Cam system, ie: Fusion, Gibbs, Esprit. Incumbent performs all tasks at the highest possible quality, efficient and timely manner. Incumbent works as a member of the applications team and assists the team as required.  

Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Work towards completing the applications apprentice level training program at or above expected proficiency.
  • Participates in “On the Job Training” including new machine training, new machine parts set up, show room demos, customer part processing, time study creation, machine / cell layouts, program creation.
  • Works with senior application engineers on proper training techniques, machine set up practices, part processing. Overall proper machine operation.
  • Works with senior application engineers on proper communication between the applications team and the customer. Also providing updates to the sales department.
  • Travels with senior applications engineers when making customer visits with the sales department. To learn proper fact-finding techniques in front of potential customers.
  • Consults with tooling vendors, work holding venders. Supplies findings to the team and senior applications engineers.
  • Documents machine demos for later use.
  • Accurately documents time log, engineering request log, mileage log, and expenses.
  • Responsible for maintaining current technical, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
  • Responsible for upkeep of all showroom equipment, gauging equipment, and department tools.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering. Or minimum of a High School / Vocational Machining degree and 4-years machine operation / service-related experience.
  • Experience running manual Mill or Lathe
  • Read and understand Blueprint’s including GD&T tolerance
  • Interpret G-Code programs
  • Use and understand precision measurement instruments
  • CAD / CAM Experience
  • Ability to create a part drawing
  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Passport. Must be able to travel out of state or out of country to support customer projects.
  • Good interpersonal Communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct when dealing with customers, peers, builder representatives and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated professional appearance, self-starter and effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use PC and job-related software / programs for programming, record keeping, time study related documents.
  • Physical demands; bending, stooping standing for long periods of time, lifting.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing work environment which includes moving and lifting machine components. Potentially loud and dirty equipment, with exposure to a variety of non-hazardous and hazardous chemicals. Job requires hands on work with machine tools and accessories.
