Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel - Nebraska is seeking applicants for the position of Automation Technician.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing technical support for maintenance and operations.
  • Maintain and improve mill wide automation, including PLC's, HMI's, Level 2 systems, drives, and industrial robots.
  • Solid understanding of computer programming, software development, automation design, install, configure, and maintain field devices, instrumentation systems, communication networks and interfaces.
  • Conduct training and develop standard operating procedures and working closely with operation and maintenance teams to ensure continuous improvements.

Candidates must be able to work scheduled and occasional unscheduled overtime. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two year degree in a related field or 3 years of equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the rolling process and related equipment
  • Proficient in PLC, HMI, and Drive software and programming
  • Strong PLC, HMI, Drives, Networking and Computer troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles
