Are you the kind of person who likes to get things done - to troubleshoot a complex problem, see the fix work, and move on to the next challenge? We're looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our world-class service team. You'll travel to customer sites worldwide, but primarily across North America, to install, maintain, and repair advanced automated packaging systems used in diverse manufacturing environments.

This role offers the perfect balance of structure and variety - clear expectations, defined processes, and technical work that changes from day to day. You'll work independently much of the time, but always with the backing of a supportive service and engineering team.

In this role, you will:

Project Ownership & Technical Leadership

  • Act as technical owner for assigned customer projects, upgrades, integrations, or complex service scopes
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with customers during execution
  • Translate customer requirements into clear technical execution plans and acceptance criteria
  • Lead system integration, line modifications, upgrades, and custom solutions
  • Coordinate across Engineering, PMO, Production Excellence, Service, Sales, and external partners
  • Lead technical decision-making within approved standards, scope, and governance
  • Validate final system performance against agreed requirements prior to customer acceptance
  • Identify technical risks, scope changes, and improvement opportunities
  • Support change orders, scope adjustments, and aftermarket revenue contribution Install, repair, and maintain complex automated packaging systems on-site

Field Service & Technical Execution

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, startup, Audits, SAT, IOQ and optimization of packaging equipment at customer site
  • Apply hands-on mechanical, electrical, and software adjustments as required to achieve project outcomes
  • Support complex service interventions and escalations where project or system knowledge is critical
  • Participate in FAT, pre-shipment inspections, and machine testing as required
  • Train customers on operation, changeovers, and maintenance best practices

Technical Support & Escalation

  • Provide advanced remote technical support to Field Service Technicians and customers
  • Support Technical Support with diagnostics and structured root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Review service reports and identify recurring or systemic technical issues
  • Act as a technical reference for complex machine configurations and integrated systems
  • Service Engineering & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze field and project failures, wear patterns, and performance deviations
  • Support creation and submission of NCRs, ECRs, and structured technical feedback to Engineering
  • Propose improvement opportunities related to serviceability, reliability, maintainability, and standardization
  • Participate in RCA discussions with Engineering, PMO, and Production Excellence
  • Contribute to closing the loop between field experience and product evolution

Documentation, Service Methods & SOP Development

  • Create, update, and improve:
    o Service Methods
    o SOPs
    o Troubleshooting guides
    o Inspection and service checklists
  • Convert project and field experience into clear, repeatable, technician-usable documentation
  • Support development of internal and customer training materials

What you bring:
  • Degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in service engineering, field service, system integration, or industrial equipment support
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Exposure to automation and PLC environments is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Packaging or pharmaceutical equipment experience is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international; up to ~60% depending on assignment)

Responsabilite des projets et leadership technique

  • Assumer la responsabilite technique des projets clients, des mises a niveau, des integrations ou des perimetres de services complexes qui vous sont confies

  • Assurer la coordination entre les equipes d'ingenierie, le PMO, l'excellence de la production, le service client, les ventes et les partenaires externes
  • Diriger la prise de decision technique dans le respect des normes, du perimetre et de la gouvernance approuves
  • Valider les performances finales du systeme par rapport aux exigences convenues avant l'acceptation par le client
  • Identifier les risques techniques, les changements de perimetre et les opportunites d'amelioration

Service sur site et execution technique

  • Effectuer le depannage, la reparation, l'installation, la mise en service, le demarrage, les audits, les SAT, les IOQ et l'optimisation des equipements d'emballage sur le site du client
  • Effectuer les reglages mecaniques, electriques et logiciels necessaires pour atteindre les objectifs du projet
  • Prendre en charge les interventions de service complexes et les escalades lorsque la connaissance du projet ou du systeme est essentielle
  • Participer aux FAT, aux inspections avant expedition et aux tests des machines selon les besoins
  • Former les clients aux meilleures pratiques en matiere d'exploitation, de changement de ligne et de maintenance
  • Fournir une assistance technique avancee a distance aux techniciens de maintenance sur site et aux clients
  • Assister le service d'assistance technique dans le cadre des diagnostics et de l'analyse structuree des causes profondes (RCA)
  • Examiner les rapports de service et identifier les problemes techniques recurrents ou systemiques
  • Servir de reference technique pour les configurations complexes de machines et les systemes integres

Assistance technique et escalade

  • Ingenierie de service et amelioration continue
  • Analyser les defaillances sur le terrain et dans les projets, les schemas d'usure et les ecarts de performance
  • Soutenir la creation et la soumission de NCR, d'ECR et de retours techniques structures a l'ingenierie
  • Proposer des opportunites d'amelioration liees a la facilite d'entretien, a la fiabilite, a la maintenabilite et a la standardisation
  • Participer aux discussions RCA avec l'ingenierie, le PMO et l'excellence de la production
  • Contribuer a boucler la boucle entre l'experience sur le terrain et l'evolution des produits

Documentation, methodes de service et elaboration des procedures operationnelles standard (SOP)

  • Creer, mettre a jour et ameliorer :
    o les methodes de service
    o les procedures operationnelles standard (SOP)
    o les guides de depannage
    o les listes de controle d'inspection et d'entretien
  • Convertir l'experience acquise sur le terrain et dans le cadre de projets en une documentation claire, reproductible et utilisable par les techniciens
  • Soutenir l'elaboration de supports de formation internes et destines aux clients
