Job description

Job Description:
TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc. has an opening in its Anderson, SC office for an Industrial Engineer - Distribution that will be responsible for the design, testing, and implementation of process and software improvement solutions for the distribution floor in the areas of personnel and equipment utilization, optimizing the flow of people, process, and material through the facility. Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with highly technical cross-functional teams to ensure that the facility achieves desired efficiencies with the lowest possible costs. Influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors
  • Develop process, procedures and testing of improvement solutions; create, maintain and provide associated documentation
  • Provide production support for new process implementations
  • Conduct time studies and task review to eliminate wastes and reduce bottlenecks, as well as to maximize productivity and balance lines/work cells within the operation.
  • Chair Kaizen/Lean/Continuous Improvement/Labor Management events with the corporate logistics group.
  • Develop operations measurement standards, as well as drive Activity Based Costing initiatives within the logistics group.
  • Manage network SKU slotting and fixed material handling utilization, as well as develop justifications for material handling solutions improvements.
  • Generate weekly divisional efficiency/productivity reports, as well as other distribution reports as needed.
  • Evaluate/establish new operational layouts/work cells.
  • Develop network best practices through continuous improvement, as well as provide focus through value stream mapping.
  • Establish standardization within the distribution network, as well as train operators/super-users as required. Responsible development, implementation, documentation, maintenance and support of engineered production standards and best-method practices
  • Evaluate inventory, labor, customer service and capital costs implications within projects.
  • Develop RFQ's and RFP's related to logistics projects, as well as work with outside vendors on development of project requirements based off of project scope. Also evaluates bids/vendor proposals.

Requirements
  • Requires a 4-year degree in engineering, operations, or related field; with 1-2 years of related experience
  • Experience working with complex automated material handling equipment and systems including warehouse management systems and warehouse control systems
  • Demonstrated use of analytical skills to solve complex process issues

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a distribution engineer, process engineer, industrial engineer, manufacturing engineer, project manager or related occupation.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and organization skills needed.
  • Skilled in using PC Office software (advanced with Excel, average or greater for Access DB, standard use of Word/email/other office software, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.), and AutoCAD. Warehouse Management Systems, RF, slotting software and SAP experience highly desired within a distribution center environment.
  • Project management experience and analytical planning experience.
  • Specialized skills in motion and time study, line balancing and ergonomics.
  • Extensive familiarity with various material handling equipment solutions (rolling stock and fixed material handling) required. Familiarity of conveyor control systems and warehouse management operating systems functionality desired.
  • Experience with warehouse layout and design.
  • Formal Lean training and application of Lean management within a distribution environment highly desired.
  • Knowledge of distribution cost elements, as well as inventory control drivers.
  • Knowledge of methods, time and motion, and process improvement.
