Role Summary

T. Rowe Price is modernizing its investment operations and portfolio of investment applications through key long-term technology initiatives. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering next-generation, cloud-native applications that solve complex business, data, and technical challenges. You will join the Cash Management Technology team, which supports critical capabilities including currency exposure hedging, foreign exchange trading, cash forecasting and reporting, and cash flow notifications. The team serves a global user base across the firm and is focused on expanding integrations with third-party vendors and the investment data warehouse while modernizing existing in-house applications. In this role, you will help deliver enhanced functionality through lean, service-driven web applications in a modern cloud-native environment capable of providing critical data in real time.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery across all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and support.
• Build high-quality, scalable software using modern engineering practices such as Agile development, continuous integration, code review, pairing, unit testing, and refactoring.
• Drive engineering best practices, lead code reviews, and help manage technical debt across the teamas applications.
• Solve complex or ambiguous business and technical problems with sound judgment and a balance of tactical and strategic thinking.
• Lead small project teams when needed and mentor junior engineers through coaching, feedback, and hands-on support.
• Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
• Use AI-powered development tools responsibly to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, troubleshooting, and delivery outcomes.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bacheloras degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field, plus 5+ years of progressive software engineering experience (or equivalent education and experience)
• Strong experience with .NET and modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Node.js.
• In-depth experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Experience designing and developing practical APIs and software abstractions.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures and containerized microservices, preferably in AWS or similar environments.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software quality practices.
• Proficiency with Linux platforms and scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, multiple programming paradigms, and debugging large-scale application components.
• Experience working in fast-paced Agile environments with strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools effectively and responsibly as part of software engineering workflows, including coding assistance, documentation, analysis, and productivity improvement.

Preferred:

• 8+ years of full stack development experience
• Experience delivering .NET core applications
• Experience building containerized applications and deploying to public or private clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or similar providers.
• Hands-on experience in FinTech technologies: OpenFin, Finsemble, Symphony
• Preference for using TDD and BDD practices and technologies
• Investment industry experience
• AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

$121,000.00 - $206,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
$133,000.00 - $227,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$151,000.00 - $258,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individualas relevant experience and skills for the role.A Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.A Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
