JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Responsible for engineering design and support for power distribution.  Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform load flow analysis and circuit coordination analysis utilizing SynerGEE.
  • Identify and develop a plan to correct Un-Balanced loads on distribution circuits.
  • Develop settings, program, and size all field equipment including but not limited to Reclosers, Fuses, Capacitors, and Regulators.
  • Review all new distributed energy resource technical documents and customer equipment to ensure compliance with Entergy’s standards and policies.
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis on failures with unknown causes.
  • Develop planned switching orders for the network.
  • Troubleshoot power quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Engineering Associates and local area line groups.
  • Create, Review, and recommend for approval electrical designs that meet customer needs, comply with company standards and enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution.

Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four year accredited institution with PE may be considered.

Preferred: Electrical, Mechanical and Civil 
Minimum experience required of the position

  • Engineer I - 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer II - 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III - 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline
  • Engineer Sr - 6+ years experience in an engineering discipline

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Knowledgeable of engineering principles. Ability to understand and comply with procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Good leadership skills. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent math skills. Excellent project management skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be available for 24 hour call out and extended hours as necessary. As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
