How much do software engineer or full stack developer jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 12, 2026, the average yearly pay for software engineer or full stack developer in Remote, OR is $134,638.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $110,900.00 and $157,800.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is a full-stack developer better than a software engineer?

A software engineer is a broad role that involves designing, developing, and maintaining software systems, often requiring knowledge of multiple programming languages and development processes. A full-stack developer is a type of software engineer who specializes in both front-end and back-end development, enabling them to build complete web applications. The suitability of one over the other depends on the specific job requirements and team needs.

Will Fullstack be replaced by AI?

Full Stack Developers perform a range of tasks that involve both front-end and back-end coding, problem-solving, and system design. While AI tools can assist with coding and automate certain repetitive tasks, they are unlikely to fully replace the need for human developers who require critical thinking, creativity, and understanding of complex systems. Continuous learning and adapting to new technologies remain essential for full stack roles.

Who earns more, full-stack developer or software developer?

Generally, full-stack developers tend to earn slightly more than software developers due to their broader skill set across both front-end and back-end technologies. Salary differences can vary based on experience, location, and specific industry demands, but both roles are well-compensated in the tech field.

Are full-stack devs still in demand?

Full-stack developers remain in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development, especially with skills in frameworks like React, Angular, and Node.js. Companies value their ability to work across the entire technology stack, making them essential in many software development projects and startups.

This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on technical leadership to ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, compliant, and innovative solutions that drive the modernization of the Life insurance business. The Manager exclusively leads the development team, partners closely with Product Management, Cloud Operations, and Business stakeholders, and plays a key role in enabling customer-centric enrichment within the ID3 ecosystem.

  • Lead interaction with Cloud Services for implementation of all hosting related services for ID3.
  • Champion ID3 standard engineering practices.
  • Stay current with Broadcom CA 2E, CA 2ECM, and IBM i updates.

2. Technical Ownership & Delivery

  • Oversee adherence to the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle - architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Ensure high standards for software quality, performance, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee production support for hosted clients - for example; On call schedules and support, ID3 batch scheduling and processing, and IBM i LPAR utilization and capacity planning.
  • Support adoption of AI/ML-based tools to enhance productivity.

3. People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, inspire, and develop software developers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning across the offshore teams.
  • Communicate clear career pathways and mentorship for technical leads and emerging leaders.

4. Governance, Quality & Risk Management

  • Uphold development governance frameworks for release management, change control, and code quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Life insurance regulations and data protection mandates (e.g., privacy, SOC2, and local jurisdictional standards).
  • Monitor and report on engineering KPIs/OKRs - velocity, defect rates, release predictability, and production stability.
  • Lead post-mortems and continuous improvement cycles to strengthen delivery excellence and reduce systemic risks.

5. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate complex technical strategies and trade-offs effectively to executive leadership, clients, and non-technical audiences.
  • Present program progress, risks, and opportunities with clarity, confidence, and data-driven insight.
  • Act as a trusted technology advisor in internal strategy sessions and external client or industry forums.

Success Indicators
