Job description

We are seeking a Large Project Executive to join our federal team, primarily supporting our overseas work in the Asia Pacific Region (Japan, Korea, Guam). This role will primarily be supporting large construction and retrofit projects for healthcare facilities across the region, primarily working with HVAC, mechanical, electrical and control systems.

Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) is a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.


Location: 
Remote / Virtual (work from home) with the ability to travel extensively to Japan and South Korea. Full-time residence in South Korea or Japan preferred.

Travel: Around 50% (if not living in Japan or South Korea)

As a Project Executive, you will:

  • Be the primary leader for the overall performance of Johnson Control’s Federal projects involving multiple medical facilities and hospitals across multiple sites throughout South Korea, Japan, and Guam, typically $50M or greater in scope
  • Supports the program development effort, development of the management plan and monitoring progress against the plan, and associated project delivery teams. Develops cost estimates.
  • Makes presentations to Executive Management on current and forecasted performance.
  • Evaluates and reviews overall subcontracting strategies. Responsible for subcontractor selection, procurement and execution. Maintains relationships with the Principals of the major subcontractors.
  • Responsible for project staffing
  • Oversees monthly performance evaluations of strategic programs and provides reports to management.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of assigned projects via operational and financial systems reporting.
  • Ensures project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Responsible for overall program asset management including collections, cost control, progress billings and payables.

Required Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience in the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities with proven ability to administer all phases of health care construction. 15+ years preferred
  • Proven advanced Construction/ Project management skills and ability to manage multiple large projects of $50M or greater, including experience in dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges often requiring knowledge of many different disciplines
  • High-level Construction Management process competencies
  • Proven track record of being able to manage very large and complex projects within time constraints and budget
  • Ability to manage, coordinate and supervise the construction process from the conceptual development stage through construction
  • Able to execute complex renovation and upgrade projects within operational healthcare environments.
  • High level understanding of contract language and project accounting
  • Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences.
  • Able to lead and direct diverse teams.
  • Strong personal computer working capabilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and basic Windows environment.
  • Familiarity with standard construction industry software, including scheduling with Primavera P6, MS Project and competency and experience utilizing Construction/Project Management Software (Procore preferred).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance to support site requirements. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Federal procurement requirements
  • Understanding of military chain of command structure and requisite interfaces with elected and appointed government officials
  • Candidate’s first language must be English. Korean or Japanese language skills would be a benefit.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare codes and standards (e.g. FGI Guidelines, NFPA 101, UFGS)

Preferred Education:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Masters or Professional registration preferred) in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture. MBA and/or Masters in Project Management desired.
  • PgMP, PMI or PMP certification strongly preferred
  • Past experience with Federal procurement requirements. UMCS experience desired.
  • ASHE professional certification as a Certified Health Care Constructor (CHC)
  • BAS Industry certifications, licenses, and/or training (Metasys, Tridium Niagara N4, etc)
