Software Engineer I

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an on-site work model, requiring employees to be in our local office five days per week.

About the role:

At the Boston Scientific Interventional Oncology & Embolization (IO&E) franchise, we design devices used by interventional radiologists in minimally invasive image-guided procedures. Our products include radioembolization (Y90), cryoablation systems, coils, particles & gels for embolization, as well as catheters and wires. Join us in developing medical device products that save lives. This role will interface with other teams to develop features and updates for the cryoablation family of devices and be involved in all aspects of the system's software and product lifecycle.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop and maintain application and system software for our medical devices using C++ and QT.

  • Develop technical leadership skills working with a global team on sustaining activities.

  • Solve difficult problems and always strive to make things better and achieve engineering excellence.

  • Be involved in all aspects of the system's software and product lifecycle.

  • Partner with other teams including marketing, systems engineering, QA, hardware and regulatory to understand requirements and bring the best solutions forward.


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.

  • Prior internship or co-op experience with Boston Scientific.

  • 3 months of experience using C++ to develop software for cryoablation devices.

  • Experience researching, troubleshooting, and resolving both hardware and software issues.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

  • Experience with security vulnerability impact analysis and secure design principles.

  • Experience with Linux and Qt and familiarity with one other computing or scripting language such as Python.

  • Strong analytical mindset - understands key impact on customers and stakeholders.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment (Medical device, aerospace, or automotive industries).

  • Experience in developing software using Scrum methodology.

  • Experience working with third-party C++ libraries such as STL and Boost.

  • Ability to define, promote, and supportthe principles and standards of enterprise architecture.

  • Ability to consult and supportmultiple large, complex, cross-functional, or divisional projects.

  • Ability to recognizearchitectural problem areas and determine ways to effectively resolve them.

  • strong software development experience in embedded Linux device design and user interface (UI) development using Qt.
