Join Our Team as an Environmental Compliance Engineer II at ARRO Consulting!

The Environmental Compliance Engineer II is responsible for supporting environmental permitting, compliance, inspections, and regulatory initiatives for a variety of municipal, utility, infrastructure, industrial, and land development projects. This role works collaboratively with project teams, regulatory agencies, and clients to help ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.

This position supports both office and field-based environmental compliance activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare environmental permit applications and regulatory submissions.
  • Conduct site inspections, environmental assessments, and compliance audits.
  • Support stormwater compliance, erosion and sediment control planning, and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, compliance documentation, SWPPPs, SPCC plans, and related environmental documents.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies regarding permitting, inspections, and compliance matters.
  • Review project plans and specifications for environmental compliance requirements.
  • Track permit deadlines, reporting schedules, and compliance deliverables.
  • Support remediation, mitigation, and corrective action activities as needed.
  • Participate in client meetings, project discussions, and field investigations.
  • Assist with mentoring junior staff and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure work is completed in accordance with company quality and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3โ€“6 years of related environmental compliance or engineering experience.
  • Experience with environmental permitting, inspections, and regulatory coordination preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control practices, and environmental monitoring.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental or engineering software applications.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with acceptable driving record required.
Physical Requirements โ€“ Work Environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform field inspections on active construction or industrial sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, client locations, and regulatory meetings may be required.
  • May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during field activities.
