Plus: experience with ETL, Talend, SQL

Overview:
The Software Engineer II will provide designs, specifications, and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing applications to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements. This role serves as a principal application designer for major modifications, effectively using analytical and technical skills to evaluate client requirements and processes. The ideal candidate will deliver solutions that are technologically sound while maintaining an excellent functional understanding of the supported applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete and oversee basic to complex systems analysis, design, and development.
  • Act as an individual contributor on complex projects, maintaining a strong understanding of the supported application(s).
  • Direct and monitor less experienced resources, coordinating development tasks on small to large scope projects.
  • Prepare and manage the technical components of project plans.
  • Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Technology staff in overall systems development from technical analysis to user acceptance testing.
  • Prepare, review, and execute detailed test plans, including debugging.
  • Evaluate complex interrelationships among programs, interfacing applications, and platforms.
  • Provide consulting and leadership in implementing new information technologies to assist business units in meeting strategic objectives.
  • Prepare and review thorough technical and functional specifications and systems documentation.
  • Recommend new technology, policies, or processes to improve organizational efficiency.
  • Adhere to risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.

Scope of Responsibilities:
The position works under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead, capable of independent work on high-level systems analysis and technical phases of development. The role includes managing activities of others on a project basis and may lead project activities, while interacting with senior management, technology personnel, clients, and vendors.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

  • May direct and monitor the activities of less experienced personnel.
  • Provide performance feedback on assigned projects relative to staff abilities and effectiveness.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree and 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience, or a combined minimum of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years in systems analysis/application development.
  • Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms.
  • Proficiency in project management, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Understanding of the Bank's application framework.
  • Subject matter expertise in the business with knowledge of the application/system being supported.
  • Advanced understanding of applications supported, with knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team on complex projects.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
