Software Development Engineer โ€“ Application Security / Vulnerability Research

**Location:** Remote โ€“ U.S. based (Seattle, WA preferred; Boston, MA acceptable)

**Experience:** 3+ years

**Contract:** 3 months, renewable quarterly

**Work Authorization Requirements:**

* U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only

* W-2 contract only

* No C2C or sponsorship


Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer with a strong background in application security, vulnerability research, and secure software development. The engineer will analyze known vulnerabilities, reproduce security issues, develop proof-of-concept exploits, and work with isolated environments for vulnerability testing.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in application security, vulnerability research, or secure software development.
  • Strong understanding of CVE taxonomy, CVSS scoring, and CWE vulnerability classes.
  • Experience writing exploits or proof-of-concept (PoC) reproductions for known vulnerabilities.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++.
  • Experience with shell scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Compose for isolated testing environments.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vulnerability analysis and security research.
  • Knowledge of memory corruption, authentication, injection, and other common vulnerability classes.
  • Experience debugging and analyzing software at the system level.
  • Familiarity with security testing and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Software Engineering or Applied Science background with hands-on security experience.
