Job description

Summary

A growing structural steel fabricator is seeking a Project Manager to oversee fabrication projects from award through final delivery. This role is responsible for managing schedules, shop drawing coordination, fabrication schedules, budgets, and client communication while working closely with detailing, production, and field teams.

The ideal candidate comes from a structural steel fabricator or has experience managing structural steel construction projects and understands fabrication workflows, shop drawings, and steel production. This position offers the opportunity to work on large commercial and industrial steel projects while collaborating with experienced engineering and fabrication teams.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage structural steel fabrication projects from kickoff through completion
  • Coordinate detailing, fabrication, production, and field installation schedules
  • Review construction drawings, structural plans, and shop drawings
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Coordinate with customers, engineers, erectors, and internal production teams
  • Track material procurement, fabrication progress, and project milestones
  • Support quality control and ensure fabrication meets project specifications
  • Identify project risks and implement solutions to maintain schedule and budget
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support project execution
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience
  • Experience with a structural steel fabricator or structural steel contractor preferred
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and construction workflows
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and shop drawings
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and project documentation
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (approximately every other week during active projects)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with steel detailing or fabrication management
  • Background managing commercial or industrial structural steel projects
  • Experience coordinating fabrication, detailing, and erection activities
  • Familiarity with fabrication software and Microsoft Office
