Training and Development Intern

General Descriptionย 

Under the supervision of Training and Development teammates, the intern willย help identify, design, update, and/or deliver learning initiatives that support our core curricula of business development, heavy equipment operation, project management, and/or management and leadership.

Key Duties May Include:
  • Create and execute learning strategies and programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess learning needs and design training initiatives.
  • Leverage best practices in adult learning and instructional design to optimize training.
  • Evaluate individual and organizational development needs. Implement various learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching, job shadowing, online training).
  • Design and deliver e-learning courses, workshops and other trainings. Assess the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities.

Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Students must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Education, Learning and Development, Organizational Development, or similar.
  • Proficient PC skills including proficiency in various software used such as Microsoft Office, Articulate 360, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.ย ย 
Physical Demands:ย 

While most of the work will take place in an office environment, there will be occasional visits to active job sites. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Construction Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.ย 

  • Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
  • Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally.
  • Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise.
  • Work can be performed at heights up to 60 feet, requiring the employee to climb ladders, scaffolds and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways.
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project need(s) and demand(s).
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Construction Intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.ย 

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mix concrete.
