Job description

At NorthWinds Technology Solutions®, we are a technology organization that offers a leading solution in the dental insurance industry, working with our Delta Dental dental insurance partners.  This modern, cloud-based technology platform is growing quickly with over 10 million lives under contract.  NorthWinds offers an Internship program for students pursuing careers in Information Technology.  This flexible, paid internship program will work full time throughout the summer, working partially from one of our home offices, in Stevens Point, WI (there could be some remote work as well). Most of our Interns also work part time throughout the school year, or as business needs dictate.   This program will allow you to work in a variety of settings to hone your skills. 

Our internship program this year will work within our Service Desk team, which will expose candidates to various areas of IT including roles in 1st and 2nd level computer support for systems or enterprise applications, help desk troubleshooting, customer service with end users, and working with service desk technologies. Interns will learn about emerging business technologies, software development, time management tools, and receive mentoring and coaching to exercise and refine soft skills.

The intern typically will choose one team as their main area of interest and work primarily with that team.  Our program provides students practical skills through hands-on assignments working with talented professionals who are willing to share their knowledge.   During this session, we will bring on Interns working in the following primary areas:

To be eligible for our Internship, the following qualifications are needed:

  • The Information Technology Internship is open to Technical College second year students or University Juniors and Seniors with a 3.0 GPA or greater in an Information Technology major with a focus on software development, network administration, security, or related major
  • Have the ability to work a minimum of 10-15 hours/week during the academic year and up to 40 hours/week during summer break
  • A commitment term of 3–12 months will be required depending on time of year and needs of the organization
  • Schedule will be flexible based on student schedule and academic responsibilities related to current semester course load
  • Possess strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills and the have the ability to work well in a team-based environment
  • Be energetic and an organized independent worker
  • Possess strong customer service orientation
