Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Global Dairy Solutions Intern. This internship program offers hands-on experience in the global dairy industry. As an intern you will work alongside experienced professionals to gain insight into how genetics, management, technology, and market dynamics influence our success around the globe. This temporary full-time, hourly, non-exempt position is at our Plain City, OH facility and reports to the Vice President of Technical Initiatives and Innovation. 


Specific duties and responsibilities of a Global Dairy Solutions Intern include, but are not limited to,

  • Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values.
  • Gain exposure to developing and delivering training to field teams. 
  • Understand our company's utilization and implementation of genetic strategies and tools. 
  • Contribute training expertise and knowledge to our online training platform for employees. 
  • Participate in on-farm training and learn best practices for dairy herd management. 
  • Understand and implement a dairy or beef herd monitoring system.

A Global Dairy Solution Intern 's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A GLOBAL DAIRY SOLUTIONS INTERN: 

  • A positive attitude with a passion for learning 
  • Passion for the dairy industry and commitment to innovation and sustainability 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Available to travel extensively domestically and/or internationally
  • Ability to work highly variable, long days depending on the needs of the Global Dairy Solutions team

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A GLOBAL DAIRY SOLUTIONS INTERN:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Animal Science, Dairy Science or related field

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A GLOBAL DAIRY SOLUTIONS INTERN:

  • Experience competing in the North  American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge or similar programs
  • Experience with dairy management software

Additional Details and Logistics 

  • Requested Availability: May 24 to August 1
  • Compensation: Intern will be paid an hourly wage, as agreed upon at hiring
  • Hiring: Intern is responsible for their own housing
