Job description

Every meaningful decision about Apple device health, from identifying a battery regression to validating a new AI feature's system footprint, starts with data. The Platform Telemetry Quality Engineering team owns the automated systems that ensure that data is accurate, complete, and trustworthy across every Apple platform. We sit at the foundation of Apple's quality signal, and we're looking for engineers who understand that great products are only as good as the data behind them.
Description
As a Quality Engineer on our team, you'll build and maintain the automated pipelines that validate system telemetry data across Apple's entire device lineup, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro, and beyond. Your work ensures that when engineers across Apple instrument new features and services, the data flowing back from devices is correct, well-structured, and regression-free. You'll validate telemetry from some of Apple's most ambitious software, including on device AI models and Siri intelligence, working directly with development teams to define quality expectations before data ever reaches production. Through dashboards, automated reporting, and close cross-functional collaboration, you'll give teams across the organization a clear, real-time picture of system health at every point in the release cycle. This role is for someone who takes data seriously, builds with scale in mind, and wants their work to underpin the quality signal for one of the world's most complex software ecosystems.","responsibilities":"Design and implement automated tests that verify system telemetry data is logging correctly, completely, and without regression across Apple's full device and platform portfolio
Review and qualify telemetry contributions from development teams, validating table structure, data completeness, null handling, and correctness before changes land in production
Validate telemetry from on-device AI features, including large language model inference and Siri intelligence workflows, ensuring the data produced meets Apple's quality bar
Build and maintain automation infrastructure that runs telemetry validation at scale across multiple platforms simultaneously
Develop dashboards and reporting pipelines that surface telemetry health signals to engineering and program stakeholders in real time
Triage and investigate telemetry regressions, coordinating with development teams to drive issues to resolution quickly
Improve the tooling that automates the path from developer telemetry submission to validated, integrated test coverage
Identify gaps in coverage across new devices, platforms, and features, and build the automation to close them
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of proven experience leading cross-functional, technical projects and initiatives
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience leveraging LLM-based tools for developing and testing code
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with Unix based systems
Experience with SQL or other database structures
Experience with Python or similar scripting languages
3+ years experience with test automation and frameworks including scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash, etc.
Excellent ability to triage and debug problems, QA experience or exposure to good testing methodologies preferred
Passion for quality and attention to detail
