Job description

This role requires a high degree of independence and resourcefulness and will support the staff of the Center for Career Development. As the first point of contact with the Center for Graduate Career and Professional Development via its general inbox, the Graduate Assistant (GA) will respond to and field graduate student inquiries. The GA will assist all career advisors in career-related events by promoting Zoom-based and in-person career events and attending Zoom-based career events to support breakout rooms, attendance, and occasional recordings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Support
  • Provide email support via the Center inbox fielding questions from students and alumni on topics including meeting with their advisor, using Handshake, upcoming events and other processes
  • Educate, inform, and engage colleagues on the value of Center workshops having participated in sequence of Career Intensive Workshop series; able to explain both sequence and value to students.
  • Provide informal feedback from fellow graduate students to Center Director and graduate career advisors
  • Support the maintenance of the graduate careers microsite as needed

Event Management and Assessments
  • Add all event descriptions to Handshake (career platform) and to Center shared calendar
  • Assist zoom-based workshops as required
  • Maintain and add attendance numbers for multiple assessments as directed
  • Produce event flyers, visuals, and other promotional materials utilizing Canva, InDesign or Illustrator software and distribute promotional materials to graduate students

Employer Contact Management
  • Field inquiries from employers re job postings, info sessions
  • Distribute ad hoc jobs to graduate students as requested
  • Support the Industry Engagement AD as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a current graduate student; minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Able to create well-designed and effective promotional materials
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite, Google Docs, and Zoom
  • Skilled in Canva (preferred), InDesign or Illustrator software
  • Attention to detail required
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to work over university breaks (Summer, Winter Break).

WORK MODE: Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-DNI
Hourly Rate: Pay: $19-21 depending on experience
Hours: 10- 15 hours per week
