Job Description
Job Title: Software Developer, Integrations & Automation
Department: Information Technology

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Software Developer, Integrations & Automation is responsible for designing, developing, supporting, and improving software applications, integrations, APIs, data exchanges, and automation solutions that support HomeXpress business operations. This role serves as a key in-house technical contributor for the Broker Portal and related mortgage application ecosystem.
The position combines hands-on software development, system integration, vendor connectivity, and business process automation. This role supports day-to-day production, enables internal code review, improves integration stability, and delivers automation solutions that reduce manual loan processing activities and lower the overall cost to originate.
The Software Developer, Integrations & Automation works closely with business stakeholders, offshore development partners, vendors, QA, Business Analysts, Infrastructure, and IT leadership to deliver reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable technology solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise software applications, APIs, integrations, automation solutions, and data exchange processes.
  • Serve as a technical owner for assigned applications, ensuring long-term maintainability, stability, performance, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop code for application enhancements, production support issues, integrations, and automation initiatives.
  • Support strategic automation projects that reduce manual loan processing activities, improve operational efficiency, and lower cost to originate.
  • Design, build, and support internal and external integrations between HomeXpress systems, vendor platforms, and third-party services.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, web services, file-based interfaces, and other data exchange mechanisms.
  • Establish and follow API design standards, integration patterns, and documentation practices.
  • Create and maintain data mapping documentation, interface specifications, file exchange documentation, and API/data flow documentation.
  • Monitor interface and integration health to identify failures, data issues, processing delays, or operational risks.
  • Troubleshoot vendor integration issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams, offshore developers, and third-party technology providers.
  • Participate in code reviews to improve code quality, maintainability, security, and adherence to development standards.
  • Collaborate with offshore development partners to review technical designs, validate proposed solutions, and support knowledge transfer.
  • Assist with production deployments, release support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and post-release validation.
  • Work with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA, Operations, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, support documentation, solution designs, integration diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Ensure software and integration solutions meet security, compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify technical debt, application support risks, and opportunities to improve system stability, scalability, and maintainability.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience developing and supporting applications using C#, .NET, PHP, or similar enterprise development technologies.
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting APIs, integrations, data exchanges, and business application interfaces.
  • Strong SQL and database development skills, including data analysis, data mapping, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting production applications, resolving defects, and performing root cause analysis.
  • Experience with source control, code review practices, DevOps processes, and software deployment practices.
  • Experience working with offshore development teams, vendor partners, or external technology providers.

EDUCATION:

  • Experience with mortgage lending, financial services, banking, or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience supporting loan origination systems, broker portals, document workflows, pricing systems, or mortgage operations platforms preferred.
  • Experience developing or supporting workflow automation, process automation, or operational efficiency initiatives preferred.
  • Experience with vendor system integrations, third-party APIs, file transfers, and data exchange processes preferred.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and modern application development practices preferred.
  • Experience modernizing, enhancing, or supporting legacy applications preferred.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or hybrid software delivery environments preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position is in an office setting with computer and general office equipment.
  • The position requires the ability to move freely around within the department and other department locations.
