Job description

POSITION: Software Developer

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Leidos Defense Sector has an opportunity in the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Missile Defense mission areas.

Your Greatest Work is Ahead!

This Software Developer role includes trade studies, system engineering, model-based system engineering, portfolio analysis, software development demonstration and product testing and deployment to Cheyenne Mountain. Leidos is focused on finding the best people, processes, and tools that will provide solutions in data integration and fusion, data analytics, data mining, predictive analytics, data visualization, and decision support tools. This position will report directly to the Program Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement containerized environments for Java and C++ applications.

  • Develop mission-critical software supporting missile defense systems.

  • Communicate and document technical solutions for integrated engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Stay updated on state-of-the-art programming techniques and technologies.

  • Conduct software design and code reviews to ensure product quality.

  • Collaborate with System Engineering teams to synchronize, schedule, and demonstrate capabilities to customers.

  • Manage regression coding and deployment delays with third-party contractors and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software development or related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience. (Additional related experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute degree requirements)

  • US Citizen; Currently possess an active DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Expertise in C++ and Java programming.

  • Experience in developing micro-services and containerized environments.

  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within engineering teams.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in associated field

  • Effective communication skills and experience managing multiple tasks.

  • Experience in FORTRAN

  • Experience with missile warning and missile defense

  • Understanding of missile warning message types
