Job Summary
Langan is seeking an Environmental Scientist within the Natural Resources group to join its collaborative team in Bethlehem, PA. This individual will serve a key function in assisting with the natural resource planning, assessment and natural resource permitting of land development and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top-notch professionals in a variety of geographic areas and regulatory programs, and to collaborate and learn from our multi-disciplinary team of site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architect professionals on landmark land development projects.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assists with the natural resource planning, assessment and permitting of land development and infrastructure projects;
  • Performs natural resource and permitting compliance assessments, and determines the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected natural resource related data;
  • Prepares natural resource assessments and figures using GIS and AutoCAD software;
  • Effectively uses reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess natural resources and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
  • Provides field inspection and natural resource identification services, as needed; and
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Botany, or related discipline required;
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required;
  • Ideally will possess relevant internship or work experience;
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting;
  • Understanding and application of GIS software and regulatory permitting processes;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Willingness and ability to work in the field up to 20% of the time;
  • Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required;
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing; and
  • Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
