Join the Outland Design team, a division of Ruekert & Mielke Inc., dedicated to creating progressive designs that enhance farm operations across the Midwest. We are seeking a highly motivated student to join us as an Agricultural Engineering Intern, gaining first-hand experience in real projects while working alongside industry professionals.
In this role, you'll support design, planning, and permitting efforts for agricultural facilities that improve efficiency and profitability for our clients. Your work will directly contribute to projects that help farms grow responsibly, while you benefit from the mentorship in a collaborative culture.

Goals & Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist in design and drafting using CAD and other engineering tools/applications
  • Support site evaluations and data collection for agricultural projects
  • Aid in preparation of permit applications and technical documentation
  • Conduct pump and pipeline calculations under supervision
  • Collaboration with engineers on innovative infrastructure solutions
  • Participation in project meetings to understand client objectives and requirements
  • Maintain accurate project documentation to ensure compliance standards
  • Conduct stormwater modeling calculations using HydroCAD

Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Agricultural or Civil Engineering
  • Basic knowledge of agricultural systems, planning, and design concepts
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • Strong attention to detail with a willingness to learn and adapt
  • Familiarity with HydroCAD and USLE software
