About the Role:

Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Developer to join our team in support of one of the nation's premier defense research organizations. In this role, the Software Developer will contribute to analyses addressing a wide range of challenges related to the survivability of advanced air vehicles against modern air defense systems. The work will span from high-fidelity one-on-one platform engagements to large-scale, networked force-on-force simulations.

The position responsibilities include:

  • Development and exercising of air defense sensor detection/tracking, command/control and mission planning software tools within a modern, object-oriented, modular architecture
  • Integration of system analysis and threat modeling into existing modeling capabilities
  • Surveying and capturing recent intelligence data to improve modeling data quality and validity
  • Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint and/or technical reports to convey findings to both internal and external audiences
  • Author clear, concise and thorough documentation of all modified or developed capabilities

Skills Required:

  • Strong academic or professional background in software development to include experience working with code of varying degrees of maturity

  • Familiarity with undergraduate engineering level introductory physics (Mechanics and Electricity/Optics) and associated mathematics
  • Experience running physics-based software and performing subsequent data analysis to reveal an understanding of underlying phenomena.
  • Position requires the candidate to possess a BS/BA in Physics, Engineering, Applied Math or Computer Science

Skills Preferred:

  • Previous experience with air defense sensor, detection/tracking, command/control or mission planning model development and/or testing. Preference will be given to candidates whose experience includes AFSIM based model development and analysis.
  • Comfortable operating in both Linux and Windows environments, to include Virtual Machines
  • Familiarity with verification and validation of simulation models
  • Background in data visualization and display toolkits/methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to take guidance and work within a small team, while working independently to achieve individual goals. Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to excel under limited guidance
  • Candidates with a relevant advanced degree will be given preference

Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursedup to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.

Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) - Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.

Clearance Level: Obtaining an interim SECRET is necessary at the start of employment. The individual will ultimately be submitted for TOP SECRET (SCI and Special Access) as these clearances will be necessary to fulfill the requirements of this position.
Work Schedule/Location: On-Site
Interview process: initial prescreen via phone/zoom; second round will be an onsite interview for local candidates; the team will consider zoom for relocation candidates.
