Description


Position Overview:

As a division of the R&D department, the goal of the Biomechanics Lab is to research, investigate and validate current and future product designs as well as act as company ambassadors. Our current capabilities are EMG (Muscle activation), VO2 (oxygen consumption), Kinematics (motion capture) and literature review. We use these systems either individually or together to drive/validate designs. External to the company, we have had a variety of both University and Academic partnerships.


As the Biomechanical Lab Intern, you will design and lead the biomechanics testing and drive the push for higher visibility of the company both internally and externally. This position requires a passionate and motivated individual to drive both product improvement as well as help develop and solidify the future of the lab within the company.


NOTE: This is an off-campus job. 


Responsibilities:

Collect and process data using kinematic, EMG and VO2 measurement systems

Use laboratory systems such as Cortex or MATLAB to provide data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings

Operate and maintain biomechanical laboratory equipment such as the EMG, VO2 and motion capture systems

Operate as a Johnson Health Tech liaison to Universities and labs

Requirements

Education:

Actively pursuing a degree in a related field such as Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, etc.


Experience:

Experience in laboratory procedures, testing and research activities

Experience with MATLAB

Experience with Cortex 3D Motion Analysis Software and Delsys EMGworks is a plus


Other:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to write, read, understand and execute techniques and protocols 

Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

Should be results oriented, possess a high degree of motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Creative thinker and strong problem solver

Ability to multi-task well and change focus quickly

Ability to analyze and critique published literature
