These bootcamps typically focus on practical, hands-on learning in programming languages, frameworks, and tools used by professional developers. They are suitable for beginners or career changers and often include project-based learning, mentorship, and job placement support. Bootcamps can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months, depending on the program's format and curriculum.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a software developer bootcamp, and how do these prepare me for real-world development roles?

Job description

About BettaBot

BettaBot is a growing technology company focused on creating innovative products and tools that make everyday life easier through smart technology and automation. Our team is hands-on, collaborative, and always looking for better ways to solve problems.

We're looking for a Junior Full Stack Developer who is excited to learn, build, troubleshoot, and grow with our team. This is a great opportunity for an early-career developer who enjoys working across both the front end and back end of applications and wants to gain experience working on real-world projects in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Full Stack Developer to join our Engineering and Product team.

In this role, you'll work closely with experienced developers and internal teams to build, maintain, test, and improve BettaBot's web-based applications and tools. You'll have the opportunity to work across the full technology stack, from creating user-friendly interfaces to working with APIs, databases, and server-side applications.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, isn't afraid to troubleshoot when something doesn't work, and is eager to learn new technologies. You'll receive guidance from senior team members while gradually taking on more responsibility and independence.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web-based applications.
  • Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces.
  • Work with modern front-end technologies such as React, Vue, or similar frameworks.
  • Support back-end development, including server-side logic, APIs, and databases.
  • Write and maintain database queries and assist with basic database design.
  • Use Git for version control and participate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across the application.
  • Write and execute basic unit tests to help ensure applications are reliable.
  • Work with internal teams to understand business needs and turn them into practical technical solutions.
  • Document code, processes, and technical solutions.
  • Test new functionality and help identify and resolve bugs before they reach users.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, development tools, and industry best practices.
  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities as you continue to grow in the role.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of professional or project-based full-stack development experience.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience or exposure to at least one modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Experience or exposure to at least one back-end language such as Node.js, Python, PHP, or Java.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Git or another version control system.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • A willingness to ask questions, learn from others, and take ownership of your work.

Education & Experience

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, coding bootcamp, capstone, or personal project experience demonstrating full-stack development.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX principles.
  • Experience working with APIs or third-party integrations.
  • Familiarity with software testing and QA practices.
  • Master’s degree in computer science
  • Coding Bootcamp Training
