Software Companies In information

What are software companies?

Software companies are businesses that specialize in creating, developing, and selling software products or services. These companies may focus on various types of software, such as applications, system software, cloud solutions, or custom software tailored to specific industries or clients. They often provide ongoing updates, support, and maintenance for their products. Software companies play a critical role in driving technological innovation and digital transformation across industries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Software Engineer, you need strong programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and typically a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with coding languages (such as Java, Python, or C++), version control systems like Git, and understanding of development frameworks is essential. Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills help you collaborate effectively and navigate changing project requirements. These skills are vital for building reliable software solutions, meeting project goals, and contributing to organizational success.

What are common collaboration practices within software companies for cross-functional teams?

Within software companies, cross-functional teams—often composed of developers, designers, testers, and product managers—collaborate closely to deliver products efficiently. Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, are commonly used to facilitate regular communication, iterative development, and feedback loops. Team members typically participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and review meetings, ensuring alignment on goals and timely identification of challenges. This collaborative environment encourages knowledge sharing and supports both professional growth and project success.

Job description

Banyan Software is the best permanent home for software businesses that serve specialized industries, their employees, and their customers. With a buy-grow-and-hold-for-life approach and a permanent capital base, Banyan acquires and grows companies worldwide, honoring founder legacies and helping portfolio companies modernize through shared AI expertise and operational discipline. Founded in 2016, Banyan operates more than 120 portfolio companies across North and South America, Europe, and APAC, and has appeared on the Inc. 5000 list for six consecutive years. The Banyan Software Foundation, endowed with $100 million in Banyan stock, leverages technology to build a greener and more equitable world.

About ASI

Automated Systems, Inc. (ASI) is a trusted banking technology partner built specifically for community banks. For more than 40 years, ASI has delivered secure, scalable core banking solutions backed by highly responsive service and deep industry expertise.

Our integrated platform helps community banks modernize their operations, reduce complexity, improve security, and provide a better customer experience - all while preserving the relationships and local service that make community banks unique.

ASI is part of Banyan Software, a permanent home for successful software companies serving specialized markets. As ASI enters its next phase of growth, we are looking for a hands-on sales leader who knows how to hunt, coach hunters, and build a highly accountable new-business sales culture.

Position Overview

ASI is seeking an experienced Sales Director to lead, coach, and develop a team of new-business sales professionals serving the community-banking market. This is a true management opportunity for someone who has personally succeeded as a hunter and understands what it takes to create opportunities, build credibility, navigate long sales cycles, and close complex software deals.

We are particularly interested in someone who has built, trained, or transformed teams of hunters. This person should be able to teach the fundamentals of effective prospecting, discovery, qualification, relationship development, pipeline management, and closing - not simply monitor activity and report numbers.

Relationships matter tremendously in community banking. The ideal candidate will bring an established network of community-bank executives, industry consultants, referral partners, banking associations, or other trusted advisors who influence core-platform decisions. This role should be based in the Midwest or Southeast United States, where the successful candidate can remain close to ASI's target markets and industry relationships.

What You'll Do

  • Manage, motivate, and develop a team of Saas sales professionals focused primarily on acquiring new community-bank customers.
  • Establish a high-energy, accountable Saas sales culture built around disciplined prospecting and consistent pipeline creation.
  • Coach representatives through live deals, discovery calls, presentations, objections, negotiations, and closing strategies.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions, pipeline reviews, call reviews, and deal-strategy meetings.
  • Identify individual development needs and create practical coaching plans that improve performance.
  • Train the team on outbound prospecting, consultative selling, executive discovery, competitive positioning, and relationship-based selling.
  • Help sales representatives become more confident and effective when engaging bank CEOs, presidents, COOs, CIOs, and board members.
  • Set clear performance expectations and address performance issues promptly, directly, and fairly.
  • Build executive-level relationships with prospective community-bank customers.
  • Help the team develop territory plans, target-account strategies, and personalized outreach campaigns.
  • Step into complex or stalled opportunities to identify obstacles and establish a clear path forward.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with consultants and trusted advisors serving community banks.
  • Bring an existing network of community-banking consultants, bank executives, industry influencers, and referral partners- particularly within the Midwest or Southeast.
  • Position ASI as a trusted option when consultants are advising banks on core evaluations, technology modernization, or vendor selection.
  • Create a consistent approach to identifying, developing, and managing referral relationships.
  • Maintain regular communication with consultants and partners so ASI remains top of mind for relevant opportunities.
  • Track consultant- and partner-sourced opportunities with the same discipline applied to direct sales.
  • Represent ASI at community-banking conferences, association events, consultant meetings, and regional industry gatherings.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated success as a new-business Saas hunter selling within banking technology, fintech, core banking, or financial software.
  • Previous experience managing, coaching, or training a team of hunters.
  • A proven ability to improve prospecting, pipeline creation, sales discipline, and closing performance.
  • Experience selling Finance Software in complex, high-value solutions with long and non-linear sales cycles.
  • Strong knowledge of the community-banking ecosystem and how community banks evaluate technology partners.
  • Established relationships with community-bank executives, consultants, banking associations, referral partners, or industry influencers.
  • Experience developing consultant and referral channels that generate qualified opportunities.
  • Ability to coach through real deals - not simply manage activity metrics and forecasts.
  • Executive presence and the ability to build trust with bank CEOs, presidents, COOs, CIOs, and board members.
  • Strong command of discovery, qualification, negotiation, and consultative selling.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM to manage pipeline activity and forecast performance.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20–25% for customer meetings, team activities, conferences, and industry events.
  • Residence in the Midwest or Southeast United States.

What ASI Offers

  • Competitive base salary with performance-driven incentive compensation
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Standard company holidays
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • 401(k) program
  • Remote-first work environment
  • Approximately 20–25% travel
  • Opportunity to lead and develop a team in a growing, relationship-driven market
  • Support from an established community-banking technology company with more than 40 years of experience
  • A high-growth, PE-backed environment with meaningful career potential
  • The opportunity to strengthen community banks and the communities they serve

Compensation

$130K to $150K USD Annual Base Salary

Uncapped commission
