StaffRight Associates is sourcing for a premier defense and national security innovation client to lead the search for an exceptional Software Engineer specializing in simulation, optimization, and decision-support systems. This high-impact role empowers you to architect mission-critical software solutions that translate advanced theoretical research into deployable, real-world tools for key decision-makers. Operating within an agile, tightly-knit engineering team, you will exercise complete technical ownership across the entire software lifecycleโ€”from initial architectural concepts on the whiteboard to final operational deployment. StaffRight Associates is managing all candidate evaluations for this direct-hire position based in Reston, Virginia.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Architect resilient Full-Stack Applications designed to power complex data optimization models, high-performance simulations, and analytical decision-support tools.

  • Engineer high-throughput backend microservices and reliable Application Programming Interfaces utilizing modern systems languages.

  • Construct highly responsive, intuitive client-facing dynamic interfaces to render intricate analytical models completely accessible to end users.

  • Champion cross-functional technical alignment by collaborating directly with researchers, domain experts, and operational stakeholders to translate complex requirements into working software.

  • Drive end-to-end software delivery across every milestone, including rapid prototyping, system architecture, client demonstrations, and production environment deployment.

What You Bring
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field.

  • 5+ Years of professional Software Engineering experience delivering production-grade systems within collaborative development environments.

  • Front-End Engineering proficiency using React, TypeScript, and modern web application tooling.

  • Backend Development expertise constructing robust services and RESTful APIs using Java, Rust, or comparable languages.

  • Full Stack Development exposure spanning modern client-server architectural frameworks.

  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance along with verifiable United States Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance status.

  • Algorithmic Optimization experience including Parallel Computing, Concurrent Programming, and performance-critical software tuning.

  • Defense & National Security Industry Experience or background supporting mission-focused agency initiatives.

  • Data Visualization mastery including 3D Graphics, Geospatial Mapping, WebGL, or OpenGL.

  • Distributed Systems Architecture familiarity incorporating high-performance Databases, Message Queues, and Asynchronous Processing.

  • Artificial Intelligence Integration experience covering Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Computer Vision, and model pipelines.

  • Cloud Infrastructure experience utilizing Containerization, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment Pipeline Frameworks.
