Job description
Join a high-performing, rapidly expanding orthopedic team at Tacoma General Hospital, a regional referral center for complex, high-acuity trauma cases across Washington state. This role offers a dynamic blend of high-volume orthopedic trauma and an opportunity to develop an elective adult joint reconstruction practice, for primary joint replacement and revision procedures. We are seeking a candidate with fellowship training in orthopedic trauma with experience and interest in adult joint reconstruction. Arthroplasty fellowship training would be desirable but not required to be considered. Candidates will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that includes physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and orthopedic resident trainees.

Position SummaryThe Trauma Orthopedic Surgeon plays a critical role in the emergency and long-term care of patients with complex musculoskeletal injuries. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team—including Emergency Physicians, Trauma Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and Rehabilitation Specialists—to provide rapid assessment, surgical intervention, and recovery planning for traumatic orthopedic injuries. The Trauma Orthopedic Surgeon specializes in managing severe fractures, joint dislocations, soft tissue injuries, and other musculoskeletal trauma resulting from accidents, falls, or high-impact events. They perform advanced procedures such as fracture fixation, limb reconstruction, and soft tissue repair while guiding post-surgical rehabilitation to restore function and mobility. Additionally, they collaborate with emergency and critical care teams to stabilize patients and develop individualized recovery strategies.
- Evaluate and diagnose patients with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries
- Perform surgical procedures, including joint replacements, fracture repairs, and soft tissue reconstructions
- Educate patients about surgical and non-surgical treatment options
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to hospital policies and industry regulations
- On Call rotation with the provider group
Board certified/eligible at time of employment
Licensed in the state of WA by the time of employment
DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association

Pay and Benefit Expectations

As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $809,000.00 - $838,133.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
