Job description

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Family Success Center Child Care Teacher for the Center of Hope, located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Job Summary

The Family Success Center #2 Infant-Toddler Childcare Teacher will be responsible for helping children develop social skills and monitoring a range of daily activities, from playful learning to rest time. Will need to be flexible and creative while maintaining structure and sticking to schedules. The Family Success Center Childcare Teacher works closely with the Program Manager to ensure alignment within The Salvation Army of Greensboro and with the United Way of Greater Greensboro's requirements related to early childhood development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have Computer/PC Skills, Knowledge of social service practices and principles, Sensitivity to cultural issues, Sensitivity to poverty issues, Ability to work independently and Good interpersonal relationship skills.

Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of: Integrative Service Delivery, Intergenerational Poverty, Barriers and challenges for families living at or below the poverty line

Must have ability to: Maintain participant and agency confidentiality, Communicate clearly, both written and oral, Problem-solve, exercise discretion and judgement, and make independent decisions, Effectively collaborate, provide strong leadership, and utilize creative and independent thinking, Ability to develop and implement successful strategic plans, Build rapport and maintain professionalism, Engage in work both independently and within a team, Navigate Microsoft, or any other web-based data management service of The Salvation Army

Education and Experience

Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, or related field

And

Four years' experience working with early childhood development programs and/or in licensed childcare settings

Or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

Must complete Safe from Harm, CPR, and First Aid Training within 60 days of start date and possess a valid Driver's License. Approved background check required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must have the Ability to meet attendance requirements, Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language, Ability to maintain an emotional stability and awareness of social issues which cause the problems of homelessness. There is a Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting light objects, (less than 25lbs.)

Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, but may be performed periodically in disaster service areas.
