At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator 1 in Population and Public Health Sciences.
Pennington Generation is a longitudinal cohort study enrolling children and adolescents and their families from throughout Louisiana and following them over time to better understand the causes and consequences of the development of obesity and other chronic conditions. The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of this statewide cohort study. The Clinical Research Coordinator will work with a team who are responsible for the maintenance and implementation of study documents (protocols, manuals of procedure, Institutional Review Board materials, etc.), participant informed consent and screening, recruitment, assessment, and retention of participants in studies, safety monitoring, data monitoring, and overall study conduct. The position will require frequent statewide travel on a mobile health unit on
which the study visits and other study procedures will take place.
Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and conduct study recruitment, participant screening, informed consent, enrollment, and follow-up activities in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel throughout Louisiana to implement study visits and collect high-quality research data in community settings and aboard a mobile health unit, including both single-day and multi-day trips.
  • Build and maintain relationships with participants, community partners, and stakeholders to support recruitment, engagement, and long-term participant retention.
  • Manage study documentation, regulatory records, electronic data capture systems, and data quality activities to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant study conduct.
  • Collaborate with investigators and research team members to achieve study milestones, prepare study reports and materials, support monitoring and audit activities, and contribute to the successful execution of a large-scale longitudinal research study.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Psychology, Kinesiology, Nursing, Nutrition, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in clinical research, healthcare, public health, community-based research, participant recruitment, or a related field which can include internships, academic research, or work in a clinical or research lab setting.
  • Experience interacting with research participants, patients, clients, or community members in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, community partners, investigators, and research staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn electronic data capture and research management systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Louisiana, including occasional overnight travel, and prossess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, document, and maintain accurate records and data with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), human subjects protections, informed consent procedures, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements.
  • Experience using electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap), clinical trial management systems, or other research databases.
