Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The Student Research Assistant supports faculty-led research projects within the Sociology Department by assisting with data collection, organization, analysis, and reporting. This position provides hands-on experience in social science research methods while contributing to ongoing research initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with data collection, entry, and organization.
  • Support research design and methodology development.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research-related tasks.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and research materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of research data and project documentation.
  • Follow established research protocols and ethical guidelines.
  • Perform other research-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research projects.

Desired Qualifications
  • Coursework in Sociology, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience assisting with academic or social science research projects.
  • Familiarity with data analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, Datapine, Excel, or OriginPro.
